A good pair of jeans can help you unlock endless outfit potential. Versatile and undeniably timeless, we reckon they’re one of, if not the, hardest working item in your wardrobe. And although they’re undoubtedly a year-round staple, we believe that jeans come into their own in the autumn months, presenting a cosy but cool item you can throw on wherever you might be going and with just about anything you own.

Though certain jean styles are proven to have longer life spans than others (straight-legs continue to dominate the fashion agenda), 2021 has served up more throwback jean trends any year previous—reminding us that we can (and should) have some fun with our denim. Handily, we know just the place to get your new-season jean fix.

Hollister is a brand that’s been edging onto our radar over the past few seasons. Though it’s always been a place to invest in preppy staples such as plaid shirts, pleated skirts, and collegiate knitwear, the American label has been seriously trending of late. Leading the ‘90s and Y2K style charge with its endless array of preppy but stylish wares, we keep seeing fashion types wearing its pieces on our feeds. And for autumn, Hollister has created jeans that tick off every major trend going. With extended sizes available in a variety of its fits (keep an eye out for its Curvy edit), we felt it was only right to share them with you.

Loose-fitting jeans have been a major player this year, with their popularity continuing to soar into the autumn months. It’ll please you to know, then, that Hollister has already mastered the art of wider-stride denim. We’ve also seen the return of ripped jeans, though, instead of looking as if you’ve been mauled by a jungle cat, Hollister’s tears are strategically positioned and deliberately streamline to ensure your look remains chic, not chaotic. And finally, flares have also received a fashion homecoming over the last few months, with designers including Dior and Celine adding the retro silhouette to their autumn/winter 2021 collections. That said, you needn’t have a designer budget to get a slice of the ’70s action—Hollister has the perfect flares ready and waiting.

Here, we’ve worked out precisely how we want to wear each of Hollister’s on-trend jeans this autumn. Using our favourite buys from its new collection, scroll on to see the four jean outfits we’ll be living in for the foreseeable.

Style Notes: When it comes to selecting jeans, it’s easy to instantly reach for blue colour-ways, assuming they’e the pairs you’ll get the most wear out of. However, black jeans are equally reliable, and, often can look dressier. Take these ripped iterations and wear them with a western belt and a checked shacket to play into 2021’s trending cowgirl look.

Style Notes: If you’re anti skinny jeans, then we think you’re going to love these flares. Particularly adored by French women, whose looks regularly pay homage to the ’70s, we recommend wearing these bell bottoms with an oversized shirt and a bra top to make them feel fresh.

Style Notes: Perhaps the biggest denim trend of 2021, loose-fit jeans might be everywhere right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy finding the perfect pair. Cue Hollister’s offering; with perfectly-positioned pleated to the waistband and a high-rise fit, they’re flattering and tenfold chicer than the pairs you wore in your teens. For more ’90s style appeal, wear them with a denim jacket (this two-tone option looks so premium), a cable knit, and a cap.

Style Notes: If you’re a classicist, then we’re willing to bet you’re already on-board with straight-leg jeans. We find vintage-style washes always look great on this jean type, and Hollister’s faded blue hue is just about the closest thing you’ll get to the genuine pre-loved article. Pair them a knitted cardigan and top set, which is still proving key for autumn.
