Sequins have long been a mainstay in the world of party dressing, whether in the form of a floor-grazing maxi dress or blinged-up accessories. But it feels as though the sequin is having a moment in the spotlight this year, particularly the sequinned top. Thankfully, with high-street and designer brands alike offering up their own iterations on this iconic party piece, there’s plenty to choose from. Plus, I am happy to tell you that sequins are super easy to style.

If you’re not much of a party-dress person, the sequin top is the perfect alternative. Throw it on with jeans and heels, and in 30 seconds, you have a statement-making cocktail ensemble. Slip one on with your favourite miniskirt and kitten heels and you’re ready to hit the dance floor. Trust me when I tell you that there are so many ways to wear this trend. Don’t believe me? For all you sequin-ambivalent individuals, I’ve put together four easy yet stylish outfits that incorporate a sequinned top. From tailored trousers and sparkling co-ords to tulle midi skirts, scroll down to see and shop my sequin-top outfits. You can thank me later.

Balance out the high-shine glamour of Ralph Lauren’s gilded top with a pair of COS’s wide-leg tailored trousers and clean-lined accessories.

For an easy yet impactful outfit, reach for a sequin co-ord, such as this forest-green Zara pairing. Just add diamanté hair slides and platform shoes—perfect for Christmas cocktails or a jazzy work event.

The most low-key way to wear sequins (if that’s not an oxymoron) is with jeans. I love the idea of wearing a wide-leg pair in faded denim to give an edge to shimmering separates and glam accessories.

This is, by far, my favourite pairing. With its caramel hue and fine layers, Raey’s tulle midi skirt is so beautiful and offers a textural contrast to H&M’s brown sequin T-shirt. A pair of low-heel Manolos will complete the look nicely.
