Women’s History Month is the perfect time to brush up on your knowledge of small owned, women run businesses. These brands each have a story behind them: one of resilience, purpose, and empowerment that inspires people to support. Here, we curated a list of clothing, beauty, and accessory brands we trust to deliver quality items that are also stylish and unique. You may not be familiar with them all, which is why we’ve also included a bit of backstory, along with a favorite site selection from each of our editors.
From Paloma Lanna’s Paloma Wool, you can expect plenty of mesh tees and cozy ribbed sweater sets. Hill House Home, founded by Nell Diamond, has become synonymous with the breezy nap dress, which sells out with each new launch. Marrow Fine creator Jillian Sassone makes out-of-the-box engagement rings for those who prefer an alternative to the classic diamond. Sleeper is the brand we trust for silky, feather-trimmed PJs that double as evening wear when you add a pair of heels. Brother Vellies’s Aurora James is probably on your radar already – she started the 15 Percent Pledge, which urges retailers to buy from Black businesses and ensure diversity across the board. Of course, she also designs inventive luxury accessories and shoes crafted by African artisans.
Click through for women-led brands you should support, not just this month, but every day of the year.
